The Prague Shakespeare Festival, Guy Roberts, Artistic Director; Classical Theatre Company, John Johnston, Executive Artistic Director; and the Czech Center Museum Houston, Effie M. Rosene, Chair/CEO, announce a special "Tasting and Teaser" social event to benefit the PSF/CTC productions of William Shakespeare's King Lear and As You Like It and the Czech Center Museum Houston.

This evening of wine and beer tasting, featuring a special sneak preview performance from As You Like It, will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from 7:00-9:00pm at the Czech Center Museum, 4920 San Jacinto Street at Wichita, Houston, TX 77004.

Admission is $25, and tickets can be ordered online below. Reservations for payment at the door maybe made via email by writing wine@pragueshakespeare.org or by calling 281-635-3557. All proceeds will support the productions and the Czech Center Museum Houston.

Wines of Sicily, available for tasting and purchase by the bottle or case, will be provided by La Bella Vita Imports of Houston. World-famous Czech beers Pilsner Urquell and Czechvar will also be available for tasting and purchase. Entertainment will be provided by noted Austin blues musician Ed Kliman, who has also created original compositions for both As You Like It and King Lear.

Pavel Kriz stars in King Lear as the Fool and in As You Like It as JaquesThe cast of the production will be on hand, including Czech superstar Pavel Kříž, star of the new hit TV show Aféry playing Friday nights at 8:00pm on PrimaTV in the Czech Republic, the most recent winner of StarDance IV, the Czech version of the international hit Dancing with the Stars and the legendary favorite of the acclaimed series of Czech Poet films with director Dusan Klein. Pavel is joined by Houston personality Bob Boudreaux and other beloved local and European favorite actors including Rutherford Cravens, Jessica Boone, Lenka Fisherova, Tom Prior, Holly Haire, Laura Baranik, Phillip Hays, Jonathan Perrein, Jovan Jackson, Ilich Guardiola, Fanette Ronjat, Jarred Tettey, Jeff Smith, Blair Knowles, Bradley Winkler, Vanessa Gendron and Guy Roberts.

As You Like It and King Lear will play in rep in Houston at Main Street Theatre Company's Chelsea Market Stage April 13-May 1, 2011, and then at Vyšehrad (Vyše Castle) in Prague, Czech Republic, May 18-29, 2011. The co-production, featuring a mixed cast of North American and European actors, is the first international collaboration of its kind in Houston in over a decade.

Pavel Kriz stars in King Lear as the Fool and in As You Like It as Jaques

PAVEL KŘĺŽ
(AYLI: Jaques & LEAR: The Fool)

Pavel Kříž, is an award-winning actor in the Czech Republic, is currently starring in the new hit TV show Aféry playing Friday nights at 8:00pm on PrimaTV, and is the recent winner of StarDance IV (the Czech version of the international hit Dancing with the Stars). Following his graduation from the Prague Conservatory, Mr. Kríz starred in numerous TV series, shows and leading parts in Czech films including Angel Eyes, The Brave Blacksmith, Scent of Vanilla, In Death Alone and his beloved and iconic appearances as Stephan Safranek in Dusan Klein's Poet saga: The World Comes as a Poet, How Poets Lose Their Illusions, How Poets Enjoy Life, End of Poets and Poets Never Lose Hope. His latest film is The Little Knights. He has worked on many Prague stages. As a member of the National Theater he played Caesar in Anthony and Cleopatra, among many other leading roles. Prominent work in international productions includes supporting roles in Dune, Children of Dune for ABC and Zhivago with Keira Knightly. He has taught film acting at the Langar College, University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, as well as at the NW Actors Studio in Seattle.

Bob BoudreauxBOB BOUDREAUX

2010 marked Bob's 21st consecutive season with the Houston Shakespeare Festival covering 37 separate productions. Previous roles include Helicanus in Pericles and Captain in Twelfth Night. Cinna and Caius Lucius, in Julius Caesar and Cymbeline respectively, Sir Nathaniel in Love's Labor's Lost , Friar John in Romeo and Juliet, LeBeau in As You Like It, and Gratiano in Othello among numerous others. Bob has also appeared at Theater LaB as Kurt Fast in Diva and as Edward Raymond in the dark comedy, The Receptionist, and he was seen in the critically-acclaimed Main Street Theater production of the musical The Light in the Piazza where he played Roy Johnson. Bob originated the role of sportscaster Sammy Stanton in the workshop production of the Larry Dierker/Paul English musical Old Stories at Stages. He has also produced the musical Always..Patsy Cline in Dublin, Ireland. He has studied playwriting/production with Edward Albee and film acting with Lois Chiles. Bob can be seen in the soon to be released feature film Puncture. He also appeared in Walker, Texas Ranger. A former officer in the US Army, Bob is a multi-decorated helicopter pilot for service in the Vietnam War. For 26 years he was a local TV News anchor where he received 2 Emmy awards for broadcast excellence. Bob was educated at UMass/Amherst and presently holds a Texas Real Estate Broker's license which he uses to develop and sell commercial properties through his own company and is a member of the Executive council of the Screen Actors Guild.


Rutherford CravensRUTHERFORD CRAVENS
(AYLI: Corin & LEAR: Lear)
A member of Actors' Equity for 42 years, he is producer/director of Shakespeare Outreach, Houston's only free touring theatre. A veteran of the Houston Shakespeare Festival, for HSF he has directed Troilus and Cressida, King John, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Measure for Measure, and Two Gentleman of Verona, and has appeared in over 20 consecutive seasons in numerous roles that include Bottom in A Midsummer Night's Dream (twice), Claudius in Hamlet, Don Armado in Love's Labor's Lost, Titus in Titus Andronicus, Touchstone in As You Like It, Gloucester and Kent in two productions of King Lear, Friar Laurence in Romeo and Juliet, Dogberry in Much Ado About Nothing and Caesar in Julius Caesar among numerous others. At the Alley Theatre he has appeared in Taking Steps, Arms and the Man, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Antony and Cleopatra, and Julius Caesar. At Stages Repertory Theatre he appeared in, among others, Castro's Beard, Silence, Good Boys, The Drawer Boy, Betty's Summer Vacation, The Unseen, The Laramie Project, Panto Cinderella, and Amy's View. At Main Street Theater he has appeared in Arcadia, A Number, The Weir, What the Butler Saw, and Mr. Pim Passes By. At Theatre Under the Stars he appeared in 1776, Brigadoon, and West Side Story. Recent film and television appearances include featured roles in Alamo, Friday Night Lights, Ray, Into the West, the Coen Brothers' No Country for Old Men, and the HBO film, Temple Grandin. He has written two plays, Wondergirl and Zero Tolerance, both of premiered at Main Street Theater.

Jessica BooneJESSICA BOONE
(AYLI: Rosalind & LEAR: Regan)
Jessica is proud to be making her Prague Shakespeare Festival & Classical Theatre Company debut in As You Like It and King Lear. She recently appeared with Main Street Theater in Or and The Heidi Chronicles and for her fifth season with the Houston Shakespeare Festival as Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Other Houston Shakespeare Festival leading roles including Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Innogen in Cymbeline, and Thaisa in Pericles as well as supporting roles in Love's Labor's Lost, The Tempest, Julius Caesar and Titus Andronicus. Other Houston favorites are A Christmas Carol with The Alley Theatre, The Ambassadors with Nova Arts Project, and Polaroid Stories, In the Jungle of Cities, and Yerma with The Unheard Voices. She has appeared in Ballroom for The Virginia Musical Theater. With The Children's Theatre Festival, she performed in two new musicals composed by Jerry Bock, The New Adventures of Pinocchio and The Land of Broken Toys. Other CTF credits include The Emperor's New Clothes, Aesop's Fables and Peter and the Wolf. Jessica graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Acting and Directing from The University of Houston School of Theatre & Dance where she performed with the Stuart Ostrow Musical Theatre Collaboration in Merrily We Roll Along, Bronx Bashert, and the title role in Lady Windermere's Fan. Jessica is a company voice artist with Studio Center where she has lent her voice to the Spiderwoman web comics and numerous national commercials and campaigns. She is also world renown for her work voicing hundreds of characters in Japanese animated series such as Hello Kitty, Angelic Layer, Princess Tutu and Azumanga Daioh. She spent three years bringing the Bard to Houston area schools as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet and Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing with Shakespeare Outreach, a touring arm of the Shakespeare Globe Center of the Southwest. Jessica is a recognized actor/combatant by the Society of American Fight Directors and a proud member of Actors' Equity Association.
